How to Make a Tincture

Tinctures are made by soaking the herb selected in a 35-40% alcohol solution (Vodka). The medicinal ingredients in the herbs are absored by the alcohol and last up to 2 years when properly stored.

Directions:
  1. With the selected herb, measure out 300grams and chop up.
  2. Throw chopped herb in large glass container, and pour 1 litre of alcohol solution over herbs. Vodka is preferred with an alcohol content of 35-40%, but rum will be just as effective.
  3. Close lid tightley on container and shake well for 2 minutes.
  4. This brew needs to sit for 2 weeks before the herbs will have concentrated enough with the alcohol. Shake container for 2 minutes every 2 days.
  5. You'll need another container with a muslin cloth over top or a mesh bag inside to strain the herbs from the alcohol. Pour the herbs and alcohol over cloth or mesh bag, squeeze herbs in cloth to strain out every last bit of liquid.
  6. Pour your finished mixture into dark glass containers using a funnel for storage and secure with scew tops of stoppers.
  7. Don't forget to label! Mixture is good for 2 years.
